Which burglary grade should I choose to insure cash & valuables?
Match the grade to the cash and valuables you need to store and to what your insurer requires. As a guide: S1/S2 and Grade 0–I for homes and small business, Grade II and above for higher sums. Always confirm the covered figure with your own insurer.
I forgot the code to my safe. Can you help me?
For security reasons neither SafeGear nor the lock manufacturer holds a master code. If the door is open the code can be reset using your lock manual; if it is locked and no emergency key was supplied, a locksmith must open the safe, which usually destroys it.
How can I bolt the safe myself?
You can bolt your safe following 8 simple steps. Read the article for the full description. If you're bolting the safe inside a wardrobe with a wooden back, we strongly recommend that you cut a hole in the back corresponding to the size of the safe in order to push the safe directly up against the wall.
How can I get an extra copy of the key for my safe?
You can ask a local locksmith to make a copy if you still have a key.
If you lost all your keys to the safe, it will depend on whether your door is open:
1) OPEN door - you can replace the entire safe lock with a new lock.
2) LOCKED door - no easy solution. A professional would have to either pick the safe lock (not easy!) or break into the safe to recover any valuables. The exact approach would depend on the security level of your safe but the safe will be destroyed and you would have to replace it.
How do I install a floor safe in concrete, step by step?
Test the safe and set its code first, prepare a hole at least 100 mm larger than the safe on every side, set it on spacers and level it, then encase it in concrete up to the door frame and let it cure.
How many bolts are included with my safe?
One expansion bolt is always included for anchoring the safe to the floor. You can buy additional bolts in any hardware store for additional anchoring to the wall.
Recommended anchor is M12/200mm (marked as 12/100)
I have an electronic lock. How often do I have to change the battery?
It depends on how often you use the electronic safe lock. In most cases, the battery will last 1-2 years.

After choosing the right location, prepare a hole. Fill the space around the safe with concrete mix, then finish the surface with a trowel.

If you have underfloor heating, we strongly recommend that you do not drill down into your floor.
Instead, look for other ways to secure your safe:
1) Bolt your safe to the wall instead of the floor.
2) Buy a heavy safe that is difficult for a thief to remove.
Obviously, you can combine the two options where you buy a heavy safe and bolt it to the wall for extra protection.

A safe can be bolted to the floor, the wall, or inside a wardrobe. Pay attention to the surface material - concrete or bricks offers a safer, much more solid fixing than wood.

If you use the safe on a daily basis, we recommend that you place it in an easily accessible location. Make sure you have checked the door opening dimension and opening side before placing/bolting the safe.

My electronic safe lock is out of battery. How can I replace the battery?
All our safes with a codelock have emergency access:
1) an external contact on which an external 9V backup battery can be connected,
2) there is an emergency key, or
3) the battery can be changed from outside.

Yes, you can change the code, as long as you follow the manufacturer's manual.
Always change the code with the door open and test it several times before locking the safe.

Most customer choose a code or electronic lock for their safe due to the convenience of not having to deal with a key. All our code locks offer emergency access if the battery runs out.
Safes: Do the external dimensions include the lock?
No, the lock is not included in the external dimensions of the safe. Measurements are without the lock handle and fitting. You can find the lock dimension in the product description under the attribute Lock depth.

The EU norms for burglary-resistance safe ratings are values given by independent institutions recognized throughout Europe. The most important Burglary Standard is EN 1143-1.
What concrete mix and moisture protection does a floor safe need?
Use a strong structural mix (around class C30/37) and guard against damp — seal the joints, keep the safe out of standing water, and keep a moisture absorber inside.
What do I need to install my safe?
You need a quality drill and the corresponding drill bit (usually 10-12 mm diameter). Depending on the surface and fixing method, you'll either secure the safe with an expansion bolt (mechanical anchor) or bond an anchor in place using a two‑component (chemical) adhesive.
When should I install a floor safe — while pouring the concrete deck, or after?
We recommend that you do not cast the safe in while you pour the concrete deck. Instead, make space for the floor safe during the pour (for instance, using polystyrene panels), then install the safe after the deck has hardened.
